Dr Shetil Nana

Dr. Shetil Nana is a Paediatrician and Paediatric Critical Care Consultant with experience across the South African state and private healthcare sectors. Currently based at Mowbray Maternity Hospital, she works as a sessional consultant in the neonatal intensive care unit – where her clinical expertise is matched by a deep commitment to patient-centered advocacy.

Since earning her Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Palliative Care in 2021, Shetil has focused on bringing a more palliative-centered perspective to the neonatal space. She believes in enhancing the care experience for families, ensuring that compassion and clinical care go hand-in-hand. Since joining the Paedspal team in 2022, she has been instrumental in establishing a dedicated neonatal palliative care programme at Mowbray Maternity Hospital. Her work focuses on holistic support, ensuring that infants and their families receive dignified, compassionate care throughout their journey.

Shetil is passionate about broadening the reach of palliative services within the neonatal space, contributing her expertise to multidisciplinary teams and service development. 

When she is away from the clinical setting, she finds joy through baking and exploring the forests with her Labradors.

Dr Hlombe Makuluma

Hlombe is a general medical practitioner with a Masters in Medical Law and Ethics. He is currently a PhD Candidate in Medical Law with the University of Pretoria.

At EthiQal, he provides medico-legal advice on various issues affecting the doctor, from general advice through to claims, complaints and notifications. He is the interface between the doctor and legal and risk management processes.

When not busy with work-related matters, he explores various mountain bike trails.

Assoc. Prof Zainab Mohamed

Associate Professor Zainab Mohamed is a Clinical and Radiation Oncologist in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Groote Schuur Hospital, and the University of Cape Town. She is the head of the clinical unit, runs the Lymphoma, Kaposi’s sarcoma and Thyroid cancer clinics and provides radiotherapy services to Clinical Haematology.

Associate Professor Mohamed has a postgraduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine and is the lead oncologist involved with the integrated Palliative Care service at Oncology and co-facilitates the Palliative Care for the Oncologist course at UCT. She is a senior examiner for the part 1 and part 2 College of Medicine Radiation Oncology examinations and supervises MMed and MPhil students. She is an educator on the Department of Radiation Oncology Access to Care program, a radiotherapy teaching program aimed at Radiation Oncologists, registrars, and physicists from the rest of Africa and South Africa.

Associate Professor Mohamed is a member of the University of Cape Town Human Research Ethics Committee and serves on an Expert Review committee (Oncology/Haematology working group) of the National Essential Medicines List Committee. She is an investigator in Oncology clinical trials and collaborator on various grant-funded studies with the University of Cape Town’s Institute of Infectious Diseases and Molecular Medicine, the Departments’ of Haematology, Anatomical Pathology and Palliative Medicine.

Dr Luyanda Mtukushe

Luyanda is a practicing advocate and a member of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates. He has 10 years’ experience as an Advocate and his areas of practice being medical related litigation, and general commercial litigation.

​Prior to being called to the Bar, he practiced as an attorney at Bowman Gilfillan, now Bowmans. Luyanda was retained as an associate in the Project Finance Department and later as a senior associate in the Dispute Resolution Department.

Before his legal career, he worked as a medical doctor in General Surgery at the Pretoria Academic Hospital, now Steve Biko Academic Hospital.

Amy Wolfe

Amy is a healthcare continuing professional development (CPD) professional with more than 15 years’ experience of building, delivering and evaluation programmes for South African healthcare professionals.

She has worked in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries as well as building sessions for medical societies. She is currently the founder of Small Is Mighty (Pty) Ltd.
