Digital platforms have changed how health practitioners communicate, educate and interact with patients and the wider community. A message sent through WhatsApp, a response to an online review, a photograph shared on social media or a comment made on a professional platform can have implications that extend beyond the immediate interaction. Understanding how to navigate these situations is therefore an important aspect of contemporary professional practice

This webinar follows the 13 August 2026 Part 1 webinar, “HPCSA Booklets #5 and #16: Navigating Patient Confidentiality, Social Media and Professional Boundaries,” and provides an opportunity to revisit key principles while focusing on their application to everyday digital communication. Using HPCSA Booklet 16: Guidelines on Social Media as the primary reference, participants will consider how professional obligations apply across different online environments and communication channels.
